The best of Lynmouth restaurants
Here at The Rising Sun we are passionate about local food. We serve the very best in fresh seasonal produce, cooked just how you like it. Our menus have something for everyone, from fish lovers to vegetarians, with an ever-changing selection of specials to reflect the best of the coast and countryside. Perfectly complemented with a great wine list and well-kept real ales and ciders.
With a location so close to the sea, we are in an excellent position to make the most of the local catch. Depending on the season, diners can expect anything from prime lobster to fantastically fresh sea bass and local mussels. Quality is everything for us and the only frozen food you will find in our kitchen is the ice cream!
Non-residents are very welcome to eat at The Rising Sun, but we do recommend booking a table during busy times.
Lunch Menu
Our lunch menu is served with the coast in mind, bringing together relaxed pub favourites, fresh seafood and lighter midday dishes. Enjoy a cream tea, small plates, Porlock oysters, seafood chowder, classic moules marinière, sandwiches, fish and hand-cut chips, Exmoor beef burger, fish pie and seasonal puddings.
Supper Menu
Settle in for supper at The Rising Sun with a menu full of seasonal dishes, local flavour and coastal favourites. Choose from small plates, fresh seafood, duck liver parfait, ham hock terrine, Exmoor lamb rump, baked hake, pork tenderloin, whole Devon sole and pub classics including fish and chips, fish pie, moules marinière and our Exmoor beef burger.
Sunday Menu

Choose from roast pork loin, roast Exmoor striploin of beef or cranberry and pistachio nut roast, all served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables and gravy, alongside starters, mains, puddings and a kids’ menu.
Absolutely perfect, and the real punch comes from the kitchen
Absolutely perfect! As everything I will write about the Rising Sun will be the same verdict, I could finish my review there. Everything from the moment we arrived until we left was amazing. A friendly welcome, a beautiful room with fabulous views over the little harbour and coastline, a 'shockingly' comfortable bed and clean modern shower room. The bar had a great selection of delicious beers, and a really good choice of quality wines. But the real punch comes from the kitchen! As a rule, we never eat in the restaurant of the hotel we're staying in. We stayed at The Rising Sun for 3 nights and ate in The Rising Sun for 3 nights! The food was phenomenal! The seafood chowder brimmed with fresh fish, as was the Fish Pie. The mushroom and tarragon pate was a work of genius! The locally sourced lamb rump was trying to jump off the plate, it was so fresh, but possibly my favourite, the stuffed pork tenderloin with accompanying pork and black pudding sausage roll! Sounds 'working class', British cooking at its best!

Lizzie on booking-directly.comAbsolutely fantastic experience
Absolutely fantastic experience. Excellent food, super friendly staff who couldn't be nicer or more professional, great choice of ales and wine. And did I mention the food. Just "Wow!" difficult to fault. Doggie friendly in the bar as well. Will most definitely be returning. Highly recommended.
Tom on TripAdvisorDecorated with taste in a classic style that embraces the age of the Inn
Lovely room overlooking the harbour, accessed from a flight of twisty stairs and a delightfully wonky corridor with original panelling and low, not for me, beams. Our room was decorated with taste in a classic style to embrace the age of the Inn without feeling like your Aunty Edna's house. Great to perch on the window seat and look out to sea with the thatch overhead. Fab breakfast, nicely presented by chefs who understand allergies; mine was strictly gluten-free. Don't be alarmed by the traditional pubby feel when you arrive; this isn't the experience you have as a guest, and despite being one floor up and directly over the front door and outdoor seating, there was no late-night noise to keep us awake at all. Lovely, friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.
Rachael on TripAdvisorA very warm welcome and perfect harbour views
Lovely stay. We received a very warm welcome. The room was beautiful and very modern and stylish. Views from the room out to sea and overlooking the harbour were perfect. Evening meal was delicious and at breakfast there was a large choice of hot and cold foods.
